William Hill in Process of Building Office in the US

As we’ve reported in the past, New Jersey is thinking of becoming the first state in the US to legalize both sports betting and poker throughout their state. This differs greatly from other states in the US that only offer legalized gambling in certain cities or areas such as Nevada (Las Vegas), Michigan (Detroit), California (Los Angeles), Indian reservations and riverboat gambling.

Seeing as how New Jersey is looking to become the first US state to offer legalized gambling, the English gambling company William Hill is already in the process of setting up an office in New Jersey. In addition to the news that they’re trying to set up an office in New Jersey, William Hill is also looking to hire six people to work in this office as soon as possible. It’s unclear as to whether the six employees will be from New Jersey or from the UK, but they are said to be actively recruiting right now.

This marks a growing trend of gambling companies moving their focus away from federal efforts to legalize gambling, and more towards state efforts to legalize it. New Jersey is a big focus point of many betting companies such as William Hill because they are very serious about becoming the first state to totally legalize both poker and sports betting.

Many are expecting New Jersey to legalize gambling within the next six months as indicated by iMEGA chairman Joe Brennan Jr. Brennan told the media, “We’ve gotten to this point by making this debate about more than taxes from gaming revenue, which is a bit one-note. Instead, we’ve made a significant case for job creation, capital investment, and the opportunity for New Jersey to become the national and global hub for this industry. And those numbers make this a compelling option for New Jersey legislators to consider.”
