How Successful will Zynga’s Real Money Casino Operation be?
One of the biggest gambling-related news pieces from this week involved the social gaming giant Zynga unveiling a real money casino and poker site in the UK. The two sites are called ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino, and they’ll run on the bwin.party network. That said, Zynga casino and poker players will be on the same network as Party Casino, bwin and WPT Poker customers.
After the real money casino and poker site were launched, Zynga CEO Barry Cottle discussed the deal with the following statement:
Our long term vision is to offer our players the next generation of real money games on multiple platforms in regulated markets worldwide. We take responsible gaming seriously and are proud to partner with bwin.party, an industry leader and a reputable company that is fully licensed by a premier regulatory authority.
The big question now is how much success Zynga can bring to the bwin.party network. We don’t have verifiable date on Party and bwin’s casino operation, but their poker network averages around 3,100 cash game players a week – ranking second in the industry.
As for Zynga, they average 102,600 play money poker players a week. However, you also have to take into account that their real money operation only covers the UK. Considering that most of these play money grinders won’t convert to real money players, one could probably guess that Zynga will add several hundred players to the bwin.party network.
In any case, this is just the first step for Zynga’s real money operation. It’s very realistic to think that they’ll keep expanding into other legalized markets – including the United States. But for now, they’ll merely be concentrating on the UK and their 63 million-plus residents.
