Slots Player wins $12.46m Jackpot at MGM Grand

A man at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Hotel & Casino has become the latest slots multi-millionaire. According to slots manufacturer IGT, the player won a $12.46 million jackpot while playing the ultra-popular Megabucks game. Megabucks is a progressive jackpot game that usually offers top prizes worth millions of dollars.

As for IGT, this is the 24th time since 2013 began that they’ve paid out a jackpot worth $1 million or more. They are one of the world’s biggest game designers and make quite a few different slot machines.

2013 has been a huge year for slots jackpots. A Finnish man won a €17,861,813 prize back in February while playing online slots. This is actually the biggest online slots jackpot ever. Much like the recent MGM Grand jackpot winner, few details were released on the record-setting winner. But we do know that he’s 40 years old and is from Helsinki.

Just a month after that, a wannabe poker pro won a $7,525,851 prize at Party Casino. The 46-year-old Canadian man had previously quit his job of 23 years so that he could pursue an online poker career. Unfortunately, this didn’t work out for him and he was somewhat in limbo. But the lucky man solved his financial problems by capturing the $7.5 million jackpot at Party.

One more interesting story is a Scottish fisherman who collected a £5.4 million payout earlier this month. He experienced his big windfall on the Hall of Gods game and was extremely excited about the win. “One day I thought I would give the casino slots a try too, as the jackpots are so tempting,” he said. “But I never dreamt I could actually win so much. When I won the first person I told was my wife, she was as shocked as I was.”

This year is coming to a close, but there’s still time for another one or two big slots winners before 2014 comes around.
