Hoops Coach Rick Pitino seen playing Craps in Las Vegas
Rick Pitino is still riding a high less than two months after coaching the Louisville Cardinals to the 2013 NCAA National Championship. And he was recently spotted in Las Vegas trying to extend his good fortunes on the blackjack and craps tables.
Apparently the 60-year-old was playing blackjack during the day and hitting the craps tables late at night. Busted Coverage documented his casino play with the following excerpt:
From what we can tell from boots on the ground, Rick Pitino has been on a Vegas craps and blackjack bender since last Friday. BC researchers tell us he was still playing craps as of 2:48 this morning. Is there a coach living better than Pitino right now?
While gambling in Vegas, Pitino hung out with his former point guard, Peyton Siva. The recent Louisville graduate was in Sin City for a pre-draft camp with the Detroit Pistons and tweeted some pictures of he and Pitino.
The Las Vegas trip appears to be part of a lengthy offseason vacation that the Louisville head coach is taking. Just a few weeks ago, he was photographed in the Bahamas with an 80-pound white marlin. Pitino caught the huge fish while fishing off a large boat in the Caribbean.
As for basketball, Rick Pitino now has two NCAA National Championships. His first came in 1996 as the coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. Following this title, Pitino left to coach the NBA’s Boston Celtics. After missing the playoffs three straight years, he resigned from the Celtics midway through his fourth season.
In 2001, Pitino accepted the Louisville Cardinals coaching job. In 12 seasons here, he’s won a national title, made three NCAA Final Fours, went to five Elite Eights, and made the NCAA Tournament 10 times. Pitino has also compiled a very impressive 310-111 overall record as the Cardinals head coach.
