Planet Hollywood Casino seeking Britney Spears for Long-term Gig
For the past few weeks, various news outlets have reported on how Britney Spears is in negotiations with a Las Vegas casino. And this weekend, Caesars Entertainment spokeswoman Emily Wofford confirmed reports that the pop icon is considering a long-term gig at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
Spears started the Sin City rumors after tweeting a question about whether or not her puppy would be able to gamble in Vegas. Las Vegas Sun reporter Robert Leach was one of the first people to report on this matter as he wrote:
I’m reliably told that Caesars Entertainment is not the only Las Vegas hotel group in talks with Britney’s agents and management. I cannot confirm that the Planet Hollywood venue would be the Base Entertainment-managed PH Live theater or that Britney could wind up in a CeeLo Green-type show that would be late night in the Peepshow Theater.
If Spears was going to seek residency for a Vegas show, Caesars is definitely a great company to deal with. After all, they featured stars such as CeeLo at Planet Hollywood and Celine Dion at Caesars Palace.
It would make sense if Spears was considering a “new job” since she recently left the hit show X Factor. The “Scream and Shout” singer, who made $15 million as a judge on X Factor, demanded an $18 million salary for next season. However, the show’s producers didn’t feel as if she brought enough to the program to justify a $3 million pay increase.
Spears is easily one of the busiest people in the music industry. Besides being a judge on X Factor, she’s also been planning a future concert tour and working on a new album. The latter is due out some time in 2013, though no official date has been announced.
