Molly Bloom pleads Guilty in Gambling Ring that used MMA Thug Debt Collectors

Molly “The Poker Princess” Bloom, who became famous for running an underground Hollywood high stakes poker ring, recently went to court in connection with another gambling ring. Bloom pleaded guilty to helping set up poker games for a Russian mob operation. As part of her plea deal, the Poker Princess will pay a $125k fine and face up to six months in jail.

It appears that Bloom made a big jump from hosting the glorified Hollywood-based poker games, which included movie stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Tobey Maguire. The latest gambling ring she was involved in had ties to the Russian mob and raked $100 million in profits over the past few years.

This ring seemed especially ruthless since US prosecutors allege that they used mixed martial arts thugs to collect debts from players. During the case of Kirill Rapoport, prosecutors allege that he sent two MMA fighters to coerce an unnamed poker player into paying up his debts. Prosecutors added that the player from the ring owed somewhere in the neighborhood of $35,000 to $40,000.

Aside from using the fighters to put pressure on those in debt, the gambling ring that Bloom was involved in also had a black eye because of its leader, Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov. The alleged Russian mobster is said to have been at the top of the organization, and he was wanted by the United States for bribing Winter Olympic officials back in 2002.

Italy arrested Tokhtakhounov and had him sitting in a jail cell. But they refused to extradite him back to the US. Now, he’s indicted by the US once again and could be facing some prison charges on account of the illegal gambling ring.

Other lower members of the organization have avoided any jail time in their plea deals. As a hostess, Bloom maybe ranked somewhere in the middle of the ring, and it’ll be interesting to see if she gets any jail time.
