Poker’s Jamie Gold hired by Tropicana Las Vegas
A few months ago, the Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel & Casino underwent some major renovations to revamp their property. The renovations included adding a nightclub, building an outdoor pool paradise, and remodeling the hotel rooms.
Even after doing all of this, it appears as if the Tropicana is still busy making moves since they recently signed 2006 WSOP champion Jamie Gold to represent them. Furthermore, they’ve also opened a poker room that will bear Gold’s name, and it’s called “The Jamie Gold Poker Room.” One big point worth mentioning about the Jamie Gold Poker Room is that it will include both low stakes and high stakes poker games, meaning anybody can have a shot at playing here.
Gold’s agent, Randy Kisper, was pretty excited about a poker room being named after his client, and he told the press, “The ownership and management of the new Tropicana – as well as Jamie – have an incredible vision for this relationship. This deal is by far the biggest of its kind, and the poker world will be shocked by many of the components as they are unveiled.”
Jamie Gold also talked about his good fortune in landing this deal with the Tropicana as he said, “This deal with Tropicana covers everything I could have ever wanted in a relationship with a major Las Vegas Strip resort, and it will serve as my anchor, and the conduit to all of my future poker and philanthropic endeavors. I really couldn’t be more excited.”
As for Gold’s poker career, he was a semi-professional player prior to entering the 2006 WSOP Main Event. However, he rocketed into the poker limelight after surviving the largest Main Event field (8,772 players) in history to win. Gold still holds the record for the largest poker tournament prize ever won at $12 million.
