Aspers Stratford City Casino opens in UK
London recently got a new casino since Aspers Stratford City opened in the city to much fanfare. Officially dubbed ‘Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City’, this 65,000-square-foot venue is now the biggest casino in Britain. As for the specifics, there are 40 roulette and blackjack tables, a poker room, 92 electronic gaming terminals and 150 slot machines in the the east London casino.
Another very interesting thing worth mentioning about Aspers Stratford City is that it’s built in the middle of Europe’s largest shopping mall. This being said, it is sure to draw a number of casual casino players who happen to be shopping. It doesn’t hurt matters that Aspers Stratford never closes either (apart from Christmas Day) because the casino is open 24 hours a day.
Besides offering a large variety of casino games, Aspers Stratford City will also house a restaurant and two bars. The restaurant is very casual, while both bars will offer a contemporary setting. The restaurant and bars go along with the high volume, low spending model that Apsers is trying to push. In essence, they want to draw as many bettors as possible, and it doesn’t matter what dress style or social class they fall into.
So far, the casino has already been a success after thousands of people flocked to the opening night. Many of the visitors came right from the shopping mall and walked straight to the gaming tables. With such easy access to casino gaming, it seems very likely that Apsers Stratford will be able to experience success with the high volume, low spend business plan.
As for the casino ownership, this is a joint operation by Australia’s Crown Melco and Damian Aspinall. The latter’s father, John Aspinall ran the posh Clermont Club casino throughout the 1960’s.
